Download MySQL Workbench and Easily Convert Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Sybase ASE, PostgreSQL, and Other RDBMS Tables, Objects, and Data to MySQL
MySQL has updated their repository for Focal Fossa and removed the repository for Eoan Ermine. To install MySQL Workbench on 20.04, either download the Workbench for 20.04 from MySQL archives or follow the alternate method mentioned below replacing eoan with focal.

As suggested by @Tyler Collier, you can just visit the download page and install it. To make life easier, copy and paste the following commands in the terminal (for Ubuntu 20.10 only, although you can also change the link below next to wget command with the one you want for your ubuntu version. Installation links can be found here):
Addendum: I found the real reason of the problem: I had NO problem to use the updated workbench for Ubuntu 20.04 on a computer which was itself updated to Ubuntu 20.04 (in my case from Ubuntu 19.10).But on a NEW computer, which never saw Ubuntu in the past (i bought it 2 days ago and overwrote Windows with Ubuntu 20.04), these packages' dependencies were not satisfied and i had to install them. ;-)
I don't know if i made a mistake but installed mysql before add mysql apt repository so when i used 'apt update' it shows me there's a mysql update waiting, i decided to use 'apt upgrade' to download and install that update but bring me an error with the message these 'packages will be ignore', after try several minutes i unnistall mysql and install it again. That resolved the problem and all work properly (mysql and workbech) but phpmyadmin stop working (i don't why but someday i'll fix it). I write this if someone have the same little error.
One question , and it is one that I cannot seem to get a clear answer to. If I install MySql workbench on a windows client can I do a remote connection to a backend MySql database sitting on a Linux RedHat Server ??
Apologies for the confusion with MySQL workbench. We can provide support for the software as it applies to hosted servers. However, your issue has to do with placement or location of a file on a local computer hard drive. You will need to review the MySQL Workbench documentation for details on this issue.
Sorry, did not realize I was on a hosting site. Not having heard of Workbench, I thought I was on a site for support for workbench. Excuse my question please, I am not a customer of yours. Will seek support elsewhere.

The goal of this page is to demonstrate how to install MySQL Server, and a helpful tool called MySQL workbench. This guide is not an exhaustive listing of all of the various installation steps or scenarios for MySQL. For more information, take a look at MySQL's documentation: MySQL Documentation.
Although MySQL Database can be installed directly using the Ubuntu standard repository, the same is not true for the Workbench. It is not available in the default repo of the system, hence either we have to add its repository or download the executable binary for Debian Linux manually. In this step, we will show you how to use the binary.
Now, open the command terminal on your Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. You can use the keyboard shortcut for it: Ctrl+Alt+T. Once it is opened, switch to the Downloads directory. It is because the files we download using the browser goes into it by default.
Well, in the first method to get the latest updated version of Workbench we have to download and install its latest binary manually. However, those who want to use the APT package manager to do that can add the MySQL Repository. The repo will supply the Workbench packages until the next LTS version of Ubuntu gets released. So, download a Debian binary available for it.
First, let us download the Zip archive of MySQL 8.0 from the download page. On the download page, choose Microsoft Windows from the Select operating System drop-down page. Select Windows (x86, 64-bit) ZIP archive.
The mysqld service will be started. Now, connect to the MySQL server using mysql command-line tools. Start another session of command prompt and run the below command. It connects to the MySQL server using the root user.
When we install the MySQL from the zip archive, we must configure the PATH variable to access MySQL without specifying the full path of mysql.exe. To access MySQL easily, we can set the PATH variable. For that, Open System Properties Open Advanced system settings.
Open MySQL workbench, and in the connection dialog box, specify the hostname and port number on which the MySQL is installed and the Username that has access to the MySQL Server. Click on Test Connection.
If you want to import or export Microsoft Excel files (XLS, XLSX) or import OpenOffice Calc documents, download the "Generic package including all optional libraries" (approx. 30MB). If you are in doubt which one to use, download that.
Starting with build 125 all additional libraries (e.g. for Excel exports) are expected in the sub-directory ext relative to the directory where sqlworkbench.jar is located. The location of the JDBC drivers is not affected by this.
If you download the archive "with optional libraries", the libraries will automatically be extracted into the ext subdirectory and you can remove the existing libraries from directory where sqlworkbench.jar is located.
Once the Installer is downloaded, double click the installer. When you double-clicked, you should see the screen like below. Follow the instruction to drag the MySQL Workbench icon to the Application folder to complete the installation of MySQL Workbench into your system.
At this point, DbSchema already downloads the JDBC driver into this folders: C:\Users\YourUser\.DbSchema\drivers\MySql (Windows) or
/Users/YourUser/.DbSchema/drivers/MySql (Linux and MacOS).
If you have not yet installed the MySQL Workbench Community release, please download your free copy from the download site. The MySQL Workbench Community release is available for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux.
If you are an organization using Chocolatey, we want your experience to be fully reliable. Due to the nature of this publicly offered repository, reliability cannot be guaranteed. Packages offered here are subject to distribution rights, which means they may need to reach out further to the internet to the official locations to download files at runtime.
MySQL Workbench is a Visual database designing and modeling access tool for MySQL server relational database. It facilitates creation of new physical data models and modification of existing MySQL databases with reverse/forward engineering and change management functions. The purpose of MySQL workbench is to provide the interface to work with databases more easily and in a more structured way.
Step 5) Enter your password and press OKNext the Wizard will test connections to database. If test fails, go back and correct database connection parameters.5. Next it will open a pop up window asking your root password to test your connection with the local mysql server instance. The password is the one you set during installation of MySQL Workbench. Enter your password and press OK
The AWS JDBC Driver for MySQL is a client driver designed for the high availability of Aurora MySQL. The driver is drop-in compatible with the MySQL Connector/J driver. To install or upgrade your connector, replace the MySQL connector .jar file (located in the application CLASSPATH) with the AWS JDBC Driver for MySQL .jar file, and update the connection URL prefix from jdbc:mysql:// to jdbc:mysql:aws://.
Once the database instance creation is complete and the status changes to available, you can connect to a database on the DB instance using any standard SQL client. In this step, we will download MySQL Workbench, which is a popular SQL client.
The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of MySQL Workbench to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this database designing program.
